Sciton HALO in Richmond
Sciton HALO provides improvement in skin texture, uneven pigmentation, and fine lines to create a youthful and healthy glow. Patients often report that their dull and sallow skin is transformed into a “HALO Glow.” The improvement in the signs of skin aging lets them show off their healthy skin without the need for foundation. Many patients enjoy treatment of other areas of the body, including the neck, chest, arms, and hands, to rejuvenate other areas that have experienced aging and sun damage over time.
How Does Sciton HALO Work?
Sciton HALO revolutionary technology combines two lasers into one treatment for remarkable outcomes. The two laser treatments are delivered simultaneously. First, microscopic channels of skin are removed with Sciton’s 2940nm erbium ablative wavelength. Then, a 1470nm laser is used to precisely heat and rejuvenate the deeper layers of skin. The combination of these two lasers builds new collagen, creates your own hyaluronic acid, improves skin texture, pore size, and skin tone, and reduces fine lines.
A Modern Fractional Laser
Sciton HALO is a fractional laser, meaning that it treats columns of skin while leaving skin in the middle untouched. This technology promotes faster healing and less downtime while still producing tremendous results. Your laser provider can customize the strength of your HALO treatment to meet your goals, lifestyle, and unique skin qualities.

What Should I Expect At My Sciton HALO Treatment?
The first step in your treatment journey is to schedule a consultation. During your consultation, we will review your health history and evaluate your skin to make a treatment recommendation that fits your goals and lifestyle. The Sciton HALO laser treatment is customizable, meaning the strength of the treatment can be adjusted to meet our patients’ requests for social downtime. While lighter-intensity treatments will help you get back to work or social events faster, you will receive a greater improvement in your skin rejuvenation with a higher-intensity treatment.
How to Prepare for Treatment
On the day of your treatment, it is important to arrive with clean skin, free of makeup or lotions. While you are not required to have someone to drive you home, your face will feel hot for a few hours after the treatment, and many patients appreciate having someone available to drive them home. Eating a light meal and making sure you are well hydrated before your treatment helps your healing start off on the right track. Your provider may also advise you to stop certain skincare products or may prescribe you an anti-viral medication if you have a history of cold sores.
Treatment Overview
A topical numbing cream is applied for approximately 30 minutes, and then your skin will be gently cleansed and prepped to remove debris and bacteria. Your laser provider will place goggles on you to protect your eyes during the treatment. The laser treatment takes approximately 30 minutes to treat the face and neck. The laser equipment sounds loud, like a vacuum, and ear plugs can be provided for your comfort. The treatment itself feels like a warm, pricking sensation. At the end of the treatment, your skin will feel hot like a sunburn. A specialized biocellulose face mask will be provided for instant soothing and hydration.
After the Treatment: Downtime and Healing
The sensation of heat in the treated areas lasts approximately 2-3 hours. The day following your HALO treatment, you may experience swelling, dryness, and redness in the treated areas. In the following days, the skin will feel sandpapery as the old skin comes to the surface, making way for fresh, youthful skin. It is important to keep the skin lightly moisturized with the provided moisturizer and avoid scrubbing the skin, which will irritate the healing skin. With the typical HALO treatment, we recommend planning for about 3–5 days of social downtime. By days 2–4, you are able to wear makeup. It is imperative that you wear sunscreen following your HALO treatment.
Keeping Your Results
To maintain your beautiful HALO results, we recommend a good skincare routine that includes the daily use of sunscreen. Investing in your skin with an annual HALO treatment is an excellent way to maintain that “HALO Glow.”
Am I a Good Candidate for Sciton HALO?
You could benefit from the Sciton HALO laser treatment if you want to improve the appearance of your skin and treat concerns such as uneven skin tone and textural issues such as fine lines, dull skin, enlarged pores, and acne scarring. Sciton HALO is safe for most skin types. Patients who have certain medical or dermatologic conditions may not be a good candidate for laser treatment. Before your Sciton HALO treatment, your provider will assess your skincare concerns and develop an individualized treatment plan for your particular case.
