During Treatment
During the treatment, your skin will be cleansed. A cool gel is applied to the skin, and safety goggles or eye shields are worn at all times during your treatment. During the treatment, each pulse of the laser will look like a bright flash of light and feel like a hot rubber band snap. While it is common to feel some discomfort at times during the treatment, this should be a manageable level. It is important that you share your level of discomfort with your provider during treatment so that we can provide a safe, effective, and comfortable treatment.
After Treatment
Immediately after your treatment, it is normal for the skin to feel slightly warm or swollen, like a mild sunburn, but it should not hurt. BBL treatment is often referred to as the “lunch break treatment,” meaning you may be red and flushed, but you will be able to return back to work. It is very important that you avoid strong sun exposure after your treatment and wear SPF 30 sunscreen or higher daily, reapplying every 2 hours when you are exposed to the sun.
